Education cost

I do not claim to know everything when it comes to state regulations, taxes and teacher’s salaries, etc. But what I do know is the price for children to go to school and get an education these days is getting ridiculous. It already costs $1.50 a day for children to eat lunch at school, at least $30-$40 a year for school fees and textbooks, not to mention money for school supplies, and miscellaneous school activities.

Now the school district wants to charge $240 a year for kids to ride the bus and get to and from school safely. I have two children in elementary school now and two more who will be going in the next couple of years. Added all together and hoping there aren’t anymore increases in the next three years, I will have to pay roughly $1,100 a year for school lunches, $160 a year for fees and textbooks, and now $960 a year for riding the school bus. A grand total of $2,220 a year for four children to go to school.

I used to work overtime to take my family on a nice vacation every year to visit family and friends around the country. Looks like now I will just work the overtime so my kids can go to school. It used to be said you couldn’t put a price on a good education. Well, I guess now you can.
