All-Star workouts continue

More than 50 high school graduates from nine states will participate in Saturday’s first annual Native American All-Star football game at Haskell Stadium.

Game director Jeff Bigger confirmed the rosters on Wednesday. Bigger had been expecting around 60 players, but some canceled.

Both the East and West teams practiced three times on Wednesday with more three-a-days scheduled today.

“It’s extremely tough,” East coach Herman Boone said about the short preparation time. “But we’re going to give you a good ball game.”

After morning and afternoon practices on Friday, the players and coaches will attend an awards dinner on Friday evening at the Stidham Union on the Haskell Indian Nations University campus.

Game time Saturday will be 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at the gate.
