Raiders take two at tourney

Lawrence defeats Nebraska teams

The 18-under baseball team from Lawrence pounded 32 hits in winning two games Saturday at the Omaha College World Series American Legion Tournament.

The Raiders won the first game, 12-7, against Romcalli (Neb.), before rallying for an 11-8 victory over Millard (Neb.) West in the second game.

Lawrence came back from deficits of 6-2 after five innings and 8-7 after six in the nightcap, putting the game out of reach by scoring four runs on five hits and a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh.

Mike Morrell had six hits in eight at bats with three RBIs.

Tommy Mangino was 5-for-8 with a double and three RBIs. Derek Bailey was 4-for-8 and Dallas Worley went 4-for-9.

The Raiders, 2-2 in the tourney and 11-6 overall, will face Omaha Northwest today.
