Springer-Sipahioglu

Phyllis A. Springer and Goksin Sipahioglu, both of Paris, were married June 6, 2002, at the 6th Arrondissement Town Hall in Paris, with Local Mayor Jean-Pierre Lecoq officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Judge Charles A. Springer and Vivian E. Kagi. The groom is the son of Faik Fikri and Memnune Osman Nuri, Istanbul, Turkey.

Following the ceremony, the couple had a seated dinner for 140 guests at the Grande Cascade restaurant in the Bois De Boulogne in Paris. Among the ambassadors attending were Turkey’s Ambassador to France, Sz Kl and his wife, Filiz Kl, and Ambassador of Macedonia to France Jordan Plevnes and his wife, Liliana Koitenska Plevnes. Also attending were the bride’s brother Byron E. Springer and his wife, Marion Peltier, Lawrence.

The bride graduated from Lawrence’s Liberty Memorial High School in 1952. She is a 1956 graduate of Kansas University with a bachelor of arts degree and Phi Beta Kappa Honors in modern European History. She is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. A Paris resident since 1959, she worked as researcher for the International Herald Tribune and for Coty-TV in Paris. In 1969, she and Goksin Sipahioglu co-founded Sipa Press, where she is chief picture editor for the private international photojournalism agency in Paris.

The groom is a graduate of the Saint Joseph Lycee in Istanbul and Istanbul University’s School of Journalism. He began his career as a sports reporter and later was managing editor of the Istanbul Express. He also worked as the managing editor of Vatan, another Turkish daily, and was the founder of Yeni Gazete Newspaper in Istanbul. He presides over the International Photo-Press Agency. Since 1994, he has been a chevalier of France’s Order of Arts and Letters. He recently received a decoration from the Republic of Turkey for distinguished work abroad.

The couple reside in Paris.

Warren-Cunningham

Tara Brooke Warren, Edgecombe, Maine, and Scott Michael Cunningham, Lawrence, were married April 27, 2002, in Honolulu.

The bride is the daughter of Mark and Ramone Warren, Edgecombe, Maine. The groom is the son of Jerry and Diana Cunningham, Lawrence.

The bride serves in the U.S. Coast Guard and is stationed in Corpus Christi, Tex.

The groom serves in the U.S. Coast Guard and is stationed in Honolulu.
