Swede earns Fair Play prize

? Magnus Norman jokingly said he deserved a fair play award for conceding match point to Sebastien Grosjean in the 2001 Australian Open.

He got what he asked for.

The Swedish Sports Confederation and the Swedish sports writers awarded Norman their 2001 Fair Play prize for his conduct in the match on Jan. 22, 2001.

Grosjean served an apparent ace on the final point, but the detecting device registered a let.

Norman, a former world top-5 player, overruled both the device and the umpire, and conceded the point to the Frenchman saying the ball was “a lot above the net.”
