Raiders drop two in Omaha
Omaha, Neb. ? Lawrence’s Raiders 18-under baseball team dropped a pair of games at the 10-team College World Series American Legion tournament on Friday.
Papillion (Neb.) used a four-run first inning to trip the Raiders, 7-2. Omaha (Neb.) Creighton Prep scored 11 runs in the third to down the Raiders, 13-3.
“We didn’t hit the ball well at all the first game,” Raiders’ coach Carl Brooks said of a three-hit outing versus Papillion. “In the second game, when they hit you with an 11-spot it takes your heart out. We didn’t play badly, we just got beat today. It was a tough day.”
Mike Morrell went 2-for-2 with an RBI in the opener for the Raiders (8-6). The Raiders return to action today against Omaha Roncalli at 3 p.m. and Millard West at 5:30 p.m.
