Revely Sets Records: Irone Revely of the Larrytown Striders established state records in winning the sub-midget 200- and 400-meter races at the State AAU track championships last weekend in Hays. The Striders’ Austi Barnett and Marcus Lucas were also double winners. Barnett won the midget 800 and 1,500 while Lucas captured the midget 400 and 800. Also, Isaac Lucas won the bantam 800 and was second in the 400. The Striders’ Chloe Porter was second in the midget 800.

Penzler Hole-in-One: Craig Penzler of Lawrence used a four-iron to ace the 187-yard No. 11 hole last Friday at Lawrence Country Club. Penzler was playing with Mark Swanson.

Grosdidier Low: Mike Grosdider shot a 74 for low score in the Jayhawk Golf Club tournament at Alvamar. Jeff Brooks and Roger Gemeinhardt were runners-up with 75s. In net, Ted Johnson was low with a 65. Randy Gebhards carded a 66 and Keith Wallace a 69.

Mariners Champs: The Mariners, a U-13 Heinrich League team, won the AA Slugfest Baseball Tournament last weekend in Overland Park. Team members are Nick Burkart, Matt Callan, Drew Hulse, Olson Kilmer, Scotty King, Leland Kueser, Austin Meyers, Joe Muiller, Brian Murphy, Ryan Murphy, Nathan Padia, Andy Petz and Chance Riley. Coaches are Rob Hulse, Tom Petz and Ed Carter.

Wilson Sets Record: Dick Wilson of Lawrence set a 70-74 age-group record in 34:12 in the Journey for Sight 8K Saturday in Topeka. The previous record of 36:36 was set in 1986.

Smith State Rodeo Champ: Ralley Smith, a Lawrence High junior, won the saddle bronc competition at the Kansas High School Rodeo last weekend in Topeka. Smith qualified to complete in the National High School Rodeo on July 21-28 in Farmington, N.M. Smith also qualified for the national meet last year.

Force U-19 Repeats: Kaw Valley Force U-19 boys repeated as champions of the Air Capital Invitational soccer tournament last weekend in Wichita. KVF compiled a 4-0-1 record. Also in the tourney, KVF U-16 went 1-0-2 and KVF U-17 was 1-2. Coaches are Lane Davis, Aaron Siebert and Frank Travato.

Force U-14 League Champs: Kaw Valley Force U-14 boys won the Heartland Soccer Assocition Division One league title. Team members are Brandon Athey, Brian Bracciano, Kevin Calton, Phillip Greenlee, Brian Hatesohl, Ryan Howard, Aaron Ideus, Quinn Klutman, Zack Morgenstern, Jacob Morris, Greg Payne, K.J. Siebert, Danny Slocum, John Sneegas, Spencer Sorenson, Blake Thames and David Turvey. The coach is Nathan Olds.

Soccer Tryouts: Lawrence Strikers, a new girls premier soccer club, will hold U-18 tryouts on June 15 and June 22 at Mustard Seed Church. Tryouts for U-10 will be on June 16 and June 23. For information, call 841-4863.

Crosstown Unity 10K: Lawrence and Free State high school track boosters will play host to the Crosstown Unity 10K and Mile Fun Run on Aug. 17. The race will serve as a fund-raiser for both schools’ programs.

Seabury Soccer Camp: Seabury Academy coach Coy Weege will conduct a soccer camp for high school players from July 8 to 12 and for junior high schoolers from July 15 to 19 at Holcom Complex.
