Judy Keller, Lawrence, has been awarded the professional designation of certified fund-raising executive. Keller is the executive director of the American Lung Association of Kansas. Individuals granted the CFRE credential have met a series of standards set by CFRE International which includes tenure in the profession, education, professional achievements and a commitment to service to nonprofit organizations. Candidates must pass a written examination testing the knowledge, skills and abilities required of a fund-raising executive.

Robert W. Baird & Co. has named Jack W. Schwartz financial advisor at its Lawrence branch.

Schwartz previously was foundation director at the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America in Lawrence. He also has been vice president for institutional advancement at Saint Mary College in Leavenworth.

Schwartz is designated as a certified financial planner and a certified fund-raising executive. He is a member of the Financial Planning Assn.

Schwartz resides in Lawrence, where he is active on the Corpus Christi Catholic Church parish council and serves on the Douglas County Estate Planning Council.

Bradley Schweitzer, a financial consultant with the Lawrence office of A.G. Edwards & Sons, has completed training for the title of accredited asset management specialist. This program is offered through the College for Financial Planning. Accredited asset management specialists have in-depth knowledge of the financial-planning process and understand that as clients gain wealth, they have more complex financial needs.

To become a specialist, Schweitzer completed 120 hours of training focused on subjects such as asset allocation, retirement planning and risk management. Schweitzer also agreed to abide by a comprehensive code of ethics.

Schweitzer, Lawrence, has been with A.G. Edwards since January 2002.

Dean Davis, an HCC supervisor at Harris Construction for 17 years, has been named general superintendent by Bo Harris, chief executive officer, and Kamal Mikhail, president. Dean, who has more than 40 years of construction experience, now will supervise all field personnel, maintenance, training programs and manage all HCC equipment. He will continue to supervise work on the KANU radio station in Lawrence.

The Kansas Dental Board, through its partnership with accessKansas, is offering online license verifications for both dentists and dental hygienists licensed in the state of Kansas. The online application is designed to give the public access to KDB licensee information 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Honors and awards

Lorne Phillips recently was awarded the Halbert Dunn award at the national conference for the National Association of Public Health Statistics and Information Systems. The association established the award to recognize outstanding contributions to the field of vital and health statistics.

Phillips is the state registrar and director of the Center for Health and Environmental Statistics for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. He is temporarily acting as the assistant secretary of KDHE.

Phillips was appointed adjunct assistant professor at Kansas University’s School of Medicine in 1987 and named state registrar in 1988.
