Griffey leaves game with injured hamstring

Anaheim, Calif. Cincinnati Reds star Ken Griffey Jr. limped off the field during Friday night’s game against the Anaheim Angels with a mild strain of his right hamstring.

Griffey returned to the Reds only two weeks ago after missing 41 games earlier this season with a torn tendon in his right knee. This injury is to the same leg, but it’s a different area.

With the Reds trailing 4-0, Griffey pulled up lame after hustling to first base on a fielder’s choice grounder in the fourth inning. Reggie Taylor pinch-ran for Griffey and replaced him in center field.

Angels team physician Dr. Craig Milhouse examined Griffey. He is day to day.
