Kansas priest surrenders to Nemaha County authorities

Officials with the Kansas City Catholic archdiocese announced that Father Dennis Schmitz surrendered late Thursday to Nemaha County authorities. Schmitz faces charges there of taking indecent liberties with a minor.

Archdiocese officials said they expect similar charges to be filed in Douglas County. But Douglas County District Attorney Christine Kenney refused to comment about her review of a KBI investigation report on Schmitz’ activities here and elsewhere.
