A Lawrence girl was one of six Girls State participants elected to statewide office Wednesday.

Anne Weltmer was elected insurance commissioner.

Others elected to statewide office were Jaci Wilkening, Ulysses, governor; Toby Brown, Louisburg, lieutenant governor; Allyson Sundby, Atchison, secretary of state; Paige Pagnotta, Osawatomie, attorney general; and Rebecca Bridges, El Dorado, state treasurer.

Other Lawrence girls participating in Girls State are Nicole Berry, Meredith Mayo, Caroline Nobo, Merry Chadwick, Ashley Hart, Lisa Heere, Elizabeth Pendleton, Erin Chaput, Brielyn Dickerson, Amanda Galyardt, Jana Homes, Elizabeth Kincaid and Abbey Patterson.

Audry Schenewerk, Baldwin, and Monica Reynolds and Ali Scott, both of Eudora, also are attending.
