Environment: City awaiting evaluation of pesticide-free parks idea

The city will take its time before expanding the number of parks it puts off-limits to pesticides, officials said during a hearing Friday.

Last month, the city of Lawrence dedicated three areas encompassing more than 12 acres as “pesticide-free parks.”

“We want time to evaluate what we’re doing,” Fred DeVictor told the Journal-World. “We fully expect we can do more of those (parks) in the future.”
