Shoemaker services

She was born May 18, 1909, on a farm in Pratt County, the daughter of Arthur Edmund and Emma Grace (Cherry) Flory. She grew up in Pratt County and moved to the Worden area when she was 13 years old.

Mrs. Shoemaker farmed with her husband, Hallie Hale, in the Worden community for many years. She wallpapered for others and worked at Watkins Student Health Center at Kansas University from 1967 to 1975.

She was a member of Worden United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women at the church.

She married Hallie Olen Hale March 27, 1927, near Pleasant Grove. He died Aug. 15, 1986.

She married Virgil Guy Shoemaker Nov. 5, 1988. He died Feb. 24, 1990.

Survivors include three daughters, Irene Saile, Pomona, Edith M. Sumner, Bakersfield, Calif., and Mary K. Roesler, Kansas City, Kan.; a stepson, Robert Shoemaker, Topeka; a stepdaughter, Shirley Buck, Burlingame; a brother, Clarence E. Flory, Baldwin; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

A stepson, William Shoemaker, and four grandchildren died earlier.
