Russell services

Services for Shirley J. Russell, 67, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Ives Chapel at Baldwin First United Methodist Church. Private family inurnment will be at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, Baldwin.

Mrs. Russell died Friday, May 31, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Dec. 22, 1934, in Baldwin, the daughter of Milo and Letha (Sayler) Story. She grew up and attended high school in Baldwin.

In 1969, she founded Russell’s East and West Restaurants in Salina, Newton and Lawrence. She managed and operated the restaurants until retiring in 1985.

She married Keith Russell. They were divorced.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Daviner, Parker, Colo., and Kim D. Johnakin, Atlanta; two sons, Kent D. Russell and Scott Russell, both of Lawrence; her mother, Baldwin; two brothers, Jack Story, Ottawa, and Charles Story, Baldwin; and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, Baldwin.
