Davis Services
Services for Robert “Joe” Davis, 49, Lawrence, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service at 3 p.m. Thursday at Yates Center Cemetery, Yates Center.
Mr. Davis died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.
He was born April 30, 1953, in Camp Polk, La., the son of Ivor Jr. and Marilyn (Mills) Davis. He attended high school in Yates Center. He was a Boy Scout and attended Fort Scott Junior College. He moved to Lawrence from Yates Center in 1986.
Mr. Davis worked for the city of Lawrence in the street and water department. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Yates Center.
He married Susan Phillips on Oct. 26, 1974, in Humboldt. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Cody, Lawrence; a daughter, Jessica Davis, Ottawa; his parents, Humboldt; three brothers, Tom, Yates Center, Nobby, Chanute, and Jeff, Humboldt; three sisters, Nan Kaufman, Humboldt, Cindy Knight, Lake Dallas, Tex., and Shelli Zinser, Caney; and a grandchild.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today or 9 a.m. Thursday until service time at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today.
The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Humane Society, sent in care of the funeral home.
