Antonia Moorhead

A service of Christian Burial for Antonia Moorhead, 79, Lawrence, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Moorhead died Monday, July 29, 2002, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.

She was born Aug. 15, 1922, in Hutchinson County, S.D., the daughter of William F. and Wilhelmina (Serr) Winter. She graduated from Scotland High School, S.D., in 1941 and attended Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa. She moved to Lawrence in 1955.

Mrs. Moorhead worked for several years at both Weaver’s Department Store and the Kansas Union Bookstore. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 Auxiliary.

She married William G. Moorhead on Sept. 1, 1946, in Scotland, S.D. He died March 17, 2001.

Survivors include two sons, the Rev. William G. Moorhead IV, Omaha, Neb., and Jon D. Moorhead, Buena Vista, Colo; a sister, Linda Miritz, Racine, Wis.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.

The family prefers no flowers.
