Berea, Ohio ? Running back William Green ended his holdout Saturday by agreeing to terms on a five-year, $7.850 million contract with Cleveland.

The first-round draft pick’s deal was finalized shortly after agent Tom Condon had initially turned down the package.

Browns president Carmen Policy said the sides agreed on a seven-year deal that will be voided to five years if Green reaches some early incentives.

Condon said Green would fly to Cleveland and may practice with the Browns today.

Green missed his second full-squad workout on Saturday, and he had been officially late since Tuesday when the club’s other rookies reported.

Condon also represents quarterback Tim Couch and wide receiver Kevin Johnson. Johnson, too, has had contract issues with the club. Condon turned down a three-year, $10 million for Johnson.

Bills Buffalo signed first-round pick Mike Williams. Terms were not disclosed, but the contract is expected to make the former Texas standout the highest-paid rookie in Bills history and the team’s third-highest paid player behind quarterback Drew Bledsoe and receiver Eric Moulds. Williams, the first offensive lineman selected in the draft, is expected to start at right tackle, moving Jonas Jennings to center or left tackle.

Colts Indianapolis signed first-round pick Dwight Freeney on Saturday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The defensive end led the nation with 1712 sacks last year at Syracuse.

Seahawks Coach Mike Holmgren didn’t try to talk Ryan Leaf into staying with Seattle. Holmgren spoke to Leaf from the team’s training camp facility after hearing of the quarterback’s decision to retire. Leaf did not show up for a quarterbacks meeting Thursday, and the Seahawks said Friday he told the team he was quitting.

Leaf was going to be competing with Jeff Kelly and Ryan Van Dyke for the No. 3 job behind Trent Dilfer and Matt Hasselback.

Saints New Orleans starting quarterback Aaron Brooks did not report to training camp Friday night.

Neither Brooks nor his agent have contacted the Saints or responded to calls from the team. Brooks is in the final year of his contract, making the league minimum of $400,000.

Giants Cornerback Jason Sehorn does not expect to play in many preseason games because of weakness in his right knee after his third operation. Sehorn also does not know if he will be ready in time for the season opener Sept. 5 against San Francisco.

Eagles The Eagles placed running back Correll Buckhalter on the physically unable to perform/active list Saturday. Buckhalter tore his anterior cruciate ligament in April and is expected to miss the entire season.
