Gardeners are requested to leave tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, beans or squash that morning on the back porch of Simon Parish Center, 1229 Vt. The food will be picked up at noon.

First Christian pianist playing at workshop

Max Mayse, pianist at First Christian Church, 1000 Ky., has been invited to play for the Association of Disciples Musicians Annual Workshop at Oklahoma State University.

Sunday, Judy Chadwick will fill in for Mayse at the church services.

Series to focus on Hindu beliefs

Unity Church of Lawrence, Ninth and Madeline Lane, will examine the fundamentals of Hinduism on Sunday, the third session in a series on major religions of the world. Services are at 9:30 and 11 a.m.

Women’s group to meet at Mustard Seed

Women of Titus II will meet at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 7 in the Fellowship Hall at Mustard Seed Christian Fellowship, 700 Wakarusa Drive. The new study will use the book “Battlefield of the Mind” by Joyce Meyer. Baby-sitting will be provided.

Seminar to explore ‘gifts of Holy Spirit’

A seminar titled “The Nine Gifts of The Holy Spirit” will begin at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 606 W. 29th Terrace.

The seminar will be held on three consecutive Sunday nights.

Church to offer discipline studies

Disciple Bible Study will begin Sunday at First United Methodist Church, 946 Vt. Information sessions for Disciple I and Disciple II will be at 9:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

High school students who attended Institute this summer at Baker University will participate in the Sunday service.

Prairie Summer Worship continues at 5:30 p.m. today on the West Campus, at U.S. Highway 40 and Kansas Highway 10. The service, which includes scripture, music, devotions and reflection in the outdoors, is open to the public.

Trinity bids farewell to interim rector

The congregation at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vt., will bid goodbye to Interim Rector Peter Oesterlin and his wife, Jeanette, with an all-parish brunch after the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. Trinity’s Adult Choir and Bell Choir will perform.

A meeting for parents with children in grades 4-6 will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the Junior High room.

Children from age 3 to third grade can attend Summer Sunday School, which meets in the Godly Play room during the 10:30 a.m. service. The school features crafts and a Bible story.

Music camp focuses on David, Goliath

The tale of David and Goliath will come alive in songs and activities at a Summer Music Camp Tuesday through Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1245 N.H.

The camp is designed for those in grades 2-6, and will be a preview of the music school for children that the church will launch this fall. There is no charge for the camp.

Drama presentation based on C.S. Lewis

Dramatists David Payne and Evelyn O’Neal will give two dramatic presentations at First Baptist Church, 1330 Kasold Drive.

“Target Practice,” will be at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 3, and “In Search of Joy” will begin at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 4. “Target Practice” draws its inspiration from “The Screwtape Letters” written by C.S. Lewis. “In Search of Joy” is based on letters and biographical writings by Lewis.
