Planning commission

Bottom Line

The Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Commission will discuss proposed floodplain development regulations.

Background

This meeting will be different from most. No matter where the commission is at on the agenda tonight, it will start its discussion of floodplain regulations at 9 p.m. People who testified on the matter at the commission’s July 10 special hearing will not be allowed to speak again. And commissioners have indicated they will cut off discussion whether it’s from the public or among commissioners at 11 p.m., making it likely the issue will be resolved at a special meeting the following week.
