Burglaries and thefts reported

A 49-year-old Lawrence man told police that someone took his tri-fold brown leather wallet with 12 $100 bills inside between 10 a.m. and 10:10 a.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Massachusetts Street. A Lawrence Police report listed losses at $1,227.

Fires

Firefighters from three township fire departments fought a grass fire Sunday afternoon that consumed a little more than an acre of land about eight miles west of Lawrence. Electrical lines blowing into a tree caused a spark that ignited the blaze, to which firefighters from Kanwaka Township responded just after 2 p.m. Sunday, Kanwaka Township Fire Chief Chris Lesser said. Because the fire was endangering two outbuildings on the property at 188 N. 1600 Road, Kanwaka called for assistance from Lecompton and Wakarusa township fire departments. Neither of the buildings burned, and firefighters brought the blaze under control and cleared the scene at 3:11 p.m.

Condition reports

Joyce Curry, a 54-year-old Eudora woman who was driving a car that was struck by a pickup truck July 14, was in fair condition Sunday at KU Med, Kansas City, Kan.
