Army Pvt. Edward M. Grant has graduated from the satellite and wideband communications equipment apprentice course at Fort Gordon, Augusta, Ga.

Grant is the son of Jerry and Linda Grant, Lawrence. His wife, Joy, is the daughter of David and Jona Stutler, Lawrence. The private is a 1994 graduate of Lawrence High School.

Jessica Fields, Ottawa, recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy for guaranteed training at the Navy’s Aviation Electronic, Electrical and Computer Systems Technicians School.

Fields, the daughter of Anthony and Penny Fields, Ottawa, is a 2002 graduate of Ottawa High School. She will report Jan. 21, 2003, to Great Lakes, Ill., for basic training. After basic training, she will begin 14 to 26 weeks of instruction in Pensacola, Fla., in the Aviation Electronic, Electrical and Computer Systems Technicians School.

Keith Bergkamp, Ottawa, recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy for guaranteed training at the Navy’s Hull Technician School.

Bergkamp, the son of Leon and Tamera Bergkamp, Ottawa, is a 2001 graduate of Ottawa High School. He will report Aug. 14 to Great Lakes, Ill., for basic training. After basic training, he will begin 11 weeks of instruction in Philadelphia, Pa., in the Hull Technician School.

Dustin Pyle, Ottawa, recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy for guaranteed training at the Navy’s Nuclear Field School.

Pyle, the son of Leo and Betty Pyle, Ottawa, is a 2002 graduate of Ottawa High School. He will report Aug. 6 to Great Lakes, Ill., for basic training. After basic training, he will begin two years of instruction in Charleston, S.C., in the Nuclear Field School.

Travis Mendell, Ottawa, recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy for guaranteed training at the Navy’s Aviation Machinist’s Mate School.

Mendell, the son of Richard and Kerry Mendell, Ottawa, is a 2002 graduate of Ottawa High School. He will report Oct. 1 to Great Lakes, Ill., for basic training. After basic training, he will begin seven weeks of instruction in Pensacola, Fla., in the Aviation Machinist’s Mate School.

Sarah Walters, Ottawa, recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy for guaranteed training at the Navy’s Personnelman School.

Walters, the daughter of Michael and Patricia Walters, Ottawa, is a 2002 graduate of Ottawa High School. Walters will report Feb. 25, 2003, to Great Lakes, Ill., for basic training. After basic training, she will begin seven weeks of instruction in Meridian, Miss.. in the Personnelman School.
