The Pilot Club of Lawrence conducted its monthly meeting July 8 at Holcom Park with a picnic.

Special guests were Sarah Modrzynski and Megan Bird, who were this year’s scholarship recipients.

The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club’s July 15 game was stratified and used the Mitchell movement. Virginia Seaver directed the game.

North-South winners in Strata A were Clyde Romer and Steve Phelps. Second place went to Jim Gunn and Harry Shaffer, followed by Kent McCullough and Larry Bodle. First place in B went to Dan Schultz and Vera Schultz.

East-West winners in A were Shirlie Vaughn and Sally Taylor. Mike Blumenfeld and Cathy Blumenfeld took first place in B and C. Third place in A went to Klee Zaricky and Chris Lane.

The Lawrence 299er Duplicate Bridge Club’s July 10 game was stratified, used the Mitchell movement and was directed by Eldon Herd.

The North-South winners were Harry Talley and Don Daugherty, followed by Frances Vogel and Dorothy Arth. Ann Thompson and Julie Ward placed third, followed by Jo Abbott and Lynn Hui.

The East-West winners were Harriett Olson and Artie Shaw, followed by Eldon Herd and Albert Ballard.

Betty Spalsbury and Glenna Herd placed third, followed by Janet Williams and Jan Darting.
