Dorothy Amy Turnbaugh

Memorial services for Dorothy Amy Turnbaugh, 58, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Lawrence.

Mrs. Turnbaugh died Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 20, 1944, in Watertown, S.D., the daughter of Harold “Bud” and Myrtle Splinter. She spent her childhood in Clear Lake, S.D., and graduated from Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1965.

Mrs. Turnbaugh was a nurse for many years, ending her career at Fort Carson Army Medical Center.

She was a member of the Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen board of directors for 10 years, P.E.O. and United Methodist Women’s Group, where she held several offices, including president. She also assisted in establishing the Chronic Illness Support Group and the prayer group at the church.

She married Bernard D. Turnbaugh on April 11, 1969, in Colorado. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Carrie Mugridge, Lawrence; a son, Don Turnbaugh, Shawnee; two sisters, Judy Adams, Caruthersville, Mo., and Betty Thompson, Sioux City, Iowa; and three grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society or Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
