Men’s quartet to sing at Methodist church

The First Four men’s quartet will sing at the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday services at First United Methodist Church, 946 Vt. Ken Pine, Frank Purvis, Joel Fredericks and Curtis Marsh make up the quartet.

Three of the members have been singing with the First Four for 20 years.

Musicians to give outdoor concert

Michael and Golden will perform at an outdoor concert at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Chapel Bible College, 1141 E. 1200 Road.

Michael and Golden, a husband and wife duo, sing and play acoustic guitars, harmonicas and recorders.

The concert is free and popcorn and water will be provided.

Bishop Seabury headmaster to give talk

Christopher Carter, headmaster of Bishop Seabury Academy, will present the Adult Forum at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vt. His topic will be “Schools and the Spiritual Formation of Young People.”

Members of the Chorister Choir and Canterbury Choir will receive choir pins during the 10:30 a.m. service.

Children from age 3 to third grade can attend Summer Sunday School, which meets in the Godly Play room during the 10:30 a.m. service.

Harpist to be featured at West Side service

Molly Jorgenson, granddaughter of Sandy Cook, a member of the congregation, will provide special harp music at the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service at West Side Presbyterian Church, 1024 Kasold Drive. She will play “Pachabel’s Canon in D” and “Moorish Garden.”

The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be observed, and the Rev. Jay Gideon will use “A Simple Answer” as his meditation subject.

Central Methodist plans Bible school

Central United Methodist, 1501 Mass., will have Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.

This year’s theme will focus on becoming a brave believer like many of the Bible’s heroes. The school will include music, worship, bible stories, crafts and snacks. Children of all ages can attend.

Tonganoxie High alum to give message

Zach Putthoff, a 1998 graduate of Tonganoxie High School, will present a message of testimony and song at the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday at North Lawrence Christian Church, 647 Elm St.

Putthoff is a student at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.

The service is open to the community. The worship service is preceded by Sunday school at 10 a.m.

Christ Community offers Bible school

Christ Community Church, 1100 Kasold Drive, will offer Vacation Bible School from 6:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Monday-Friday. The school is for children ages 4 through sixth grade.

Built around an Amazon expedition theme, the week will include Bible stories, a lagoon of crafts and rain forest-related refreshments and recreation.

McLouth church to dedicate building

McLouth McLouth Church of the Nazarene, 901 East Lake St., will dedicate its church building at 3 p.m. July 28.

After the service, a cookout with watermelon, homemade ice cream, games and fellowship will be offered.
