Cleveland ? After losing Roger Clemens and the game, New York Yankees manager Joe Torre saw at least one thing that made him feel better Raul Mondesi was moving around.

Mondesi hurt himself crashing into the right-field wall trying to catch Omar Vizquel’s RBI triple in the 10th inning, and the Cleveland Indians beat New York, 2-1, Friday night.

Earlier, Clemens came out because of a strained right groin.

“I felt better when I saw (Raul) moving his limbs,” Torre said. “When he’s laying there still, you’re scared to death.”

Mondesi’s right shoulder and head slammed into the wall, and he fell to the ground as the winning run scored. Mondesi remained on the warning track for several minutes before standing up and walking over to a cart that drove him from the field.

“He got the wind knocked out of him,” Torre said. “He never lost consciousness.”

Mondesi was taken to Lutheran Medical Center for X-rays.

Einar Diaz opened the Cleveland 10th by beating out a slow roller to second baseman Alfonso Soriano, who tried to backhand the ball to first base, but threw it past Nick Johnson.

After Chris Magruder popped up a bunt attempt for the first out, Vizquel hit a 3-2 pitch from Steve Karsay (3-4) into the gap in right-center. Mondesi, acquired two weeks ago from Toronto, made a valiant attempt for the ball, which ricocheted into center field as Diaz easily scored.

Mark Wohlers (1-1) worked the 10th for the win.

Clemens left after five scoreless innings. He was trying for his 289th career victory as he went to the mound with a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth.

After making a few warmup pitches, Clemens called Torre and assistant trainer Steve Donohue from the dugout. A moment later, Clemens walked to the clubhouse as Torre signaled for Ramiro Mendoza, who pitched two-plus innings.

Clemens allowed two hits, struck out four, but remained winless in five starts since June 9. The 39-year-old right-hander had left his last start July 2 at Yankee Stadium after five innings with cramping in his legs and Torre said he would be careful with the six-time Cy Young Award winner.

“Roger said that all of a sudden in the fifth, he felt it grab him again, that cramp,” Torre said.

Mariano Rivera had his consecutive saves streak snapped at 17 games.

Blue Jays 5, Red Sox 0

Toronto Roy Halladay outpitched Derek Lowe in a matchup of All-Stars, and Toronto ended an 11-game losing streak to Boston. Jose Cruz Jr. homered, tripled and doubled for the Blue Jays, who hadn’t beaten Boston since the season opener on April 1. Cruz drove in three runs. He needed a single for the cycle, but didn’t get another at-bat after doubling in the seventh inning.

Halladay (10-4) and Kelvim Escobar combined on a three-hit shutout. Halladay, who allowed a three-run homer to Barry Bonds in the All-Star game, gave up three singles in eight innings.

Lowe (12-5), who started for the AL All-Stars on Tuesday night, has lost three of his last four starts. He gave up four runs and six hits in six innings.

Mariners 2, Devil Rays 1

St. Petersburg, Fla. Jamie Moyer pitched two-hit ball over 713 innings as Seattle handed Tampa Bay its eighth straight loss. Bret Boone had a RBI single in the sixth inning and Desi Relaford drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth when he grounded into a force play with the bases loaded against Travis Harper (3-6).

Moyer (9-4), who struck out the side in the sixth, retired the last 11 batters he faced.

Jeff Nelson got the last two outs in the eighth and Kazuhiro Sasaki finished the combined four-hitter by pitching the ninth to get his 22nd save.

Athletics 1, Orioles 0

Baltimore Tim Hudson outpitched Jason Johnson, and Miguel Tejada drove in the game’s lone run in the first inning as Oakland beat Baltimore. Mark Ellis had two hits, scored a run and made two clutch plays at second base to help the A’s to their sixth win in eight games.

Hudson (7-7) gave up eight hits, struck out two and walked one in seven-plus innings. The right-hander is 6-0 with a 2.06 ERA in six career starts against the Orioles, including 3-0 with an 0.44 ERA at Camden Yards.

Chadwick Bradford worked out of an eighth-inning jam, and Billy Koch got three outs for his 22nd save, the second in two nights.

Johnson (3-6) allowed one run, six hits and a season-high four walks over seven innings.

Tigers 2, White Sox 1

Detroit Mark Redman pitched six innings to help Detroit past Chicago.

Redman (5-8) allowed four hits and walked three in six-plus innings.

Julio Santana pitched 123 scoreless innings of relief for the Tigers and Juan Acevedo got four outs for his 15th save in 18 chances.

The White Sox scored in the seventh on Paul Konerko’s 22nd home run of the season. Chicago starter Todd Ritchie (5-12) allowed five hits in 613 innings.

Twins 4, Rangers 3

Minneapolis Jacque Jones hit a two-out single in the bottom of the 11th to lift Minnesota past Texas.

Jones, who had been 0-for-5, hit his first pitch from Hideki Irabu (3-8) to bring home Dustan Mohr, who led off the inning with a single to left-center before advancing to second on a sacrifice by Tom Prince.

Tony Fiore (7-2) retired the Rangers in order in the 11th for the win.
