Rio De Janeiro, Brazil ? Soccer hero Ronaldo is set to become a carnival superstar at next year’s parade in Rio thanks to one of Brazil’s top samba groups.

The president of the Tradico group said Wednesday it will honor Ronaldo with a parade entitled: “Brazil is five time champion, R is 9 the illuminated phenomenon.”

Ronaldo, who topped all scorers in leading Brazil to its fifth World Cup title, is often referred to locally as R9 R for Ronaldo, 9 for the number on his national team jersey.
