R.P. ‘Doc’ Schuchart Jr.

? A funeral Mass for R.P. “Doc” Schuchart Jr., 83, Sikeston, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Church, Sikeston. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Sikeston, with full military honors by the Missouri Military Honor Guard Unit.

Mr. Schuchart died Monday, July 8, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center, Sikeston.

He was born on Jan. 17, 1919, in Union, the son of Rudolph Peter and Minnie Catherine (Hanneken) Schuchart Sr.

Mr. Schuchart was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was awarded five Bronze Stars, the American Defense Service Ribbon, the European-African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon and six overseas bars. He was discharged in July 1945.

After serving in the army, he returned to Sikeston and was a self-employed farmer and dairyman for 33 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member and past president of the American Dairy Association District No. 13, member and past president of the Southeast Missouri Milk Producers Assn., and a past board member of the Paducah, Ky., Division of Dairymen Inc.

Mr. Schuchart was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

He married Alberta M. Kyle on Dec. 30, 1961, in Sikeston. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Trent A., Lawrence, Kan.; two daughters, Theresa Browning, Lawrence, Kan., and Lisa Starks, Murray, Ky.; a brother, SR. “Wes” Schuchart, Sikeston; four sisters, Martha Sachs, Ada Johnson and Stella Foster, all of Arlington, Va., and Alice Howard, Sun Valley, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, Sikeston.
