Rockies, Pirates talk Neagle-for-Kendall

Denver The Colorado Rockies and Pittsburgh Pirates have been discussing a trade that would send left-hander Denny Neagle to the Pirates in exchange for catcher Jason Kendall. The Rockies, 42-46 at the All-Star break, also have been shopping their other high-profile pitcher, Mike Hampton.

Athletics extend lease

Oakland, Calif. The Oakland Athletics extended their lease at the Coliseum through 2007 on Tuesday. The A’s will pay $500,000 per year in the first three years of the new agreement. The deal, expected to be approved by city officials within the next two weeks, also contains three one-year club options through 2010.

Guillen pleads innocent

Kirkland, Wash. Seattle Mariners shortstop Carlos Guillen pleaded innocent Tuesday to a charge of drunken driving. Guillen, 26, was arrested early in the morning on June 13 by police in suburban Clyde Hill east of Seattle after being stopped for speeding. Police said he was clocked at 89 mph in a 60 mph zone.
