Lawrence held to two hits in Oklahoma

? Lawrence’s Raiders mustered just two hits in a 3-0 American Legion baseball loss to Lawton (Okla.) on Friday at the Enid Woodbat Tournament.

The Raiders, 2-1 in the tourney and 22-12 overall, placed second in their pool and will meet host Enid in a tourney semifinal at 7:45 tonight.

Nate Burman allowed just seven hits for the Raiders.

“It was a very good game. Matt Berner played a great game at shortstop,” Lawrence coach Carl Brooks said. “Their pitcher was very good. He had us on his terms all night.”

Renegades earn split

St. Louis Lawrence’s Renegades 18-under traveling baseball team won once and lost once Friday at the Fourth of July Tournament.

The Renegades lost to the St. Louis Redbirds, 9-2, in the opener, but came back to knock off the Central Illinois Magic, 4-2, in the nightcap.

Lawrence had just two hits  one of which was a home run by Cal Heinrich  and committed seven errors as Seth Johnson (5-3) took the loss.

Ryne Jackson (5-1) earned the win in the second game. Ryan Engel led the way on offense with two hits, a double and a run. Heinrich added a double and two RBIs for Lawrence.

The Renegades (17-10) will play Quincy (Ill.) today.
