Despite the first major ice storm of the season, area residents are digging out, scraping off and getting on with their day.
Most schools throughout the region are closed Wednesday, but other services will go on as usual. Postal Manager Bill Lawrence and Superviser Sonny Larios were out scraping ice off delivery trucks at 8:20 a.m.
Bill Lawrence had one word for the conditions: nasty. "The carriers are due out in 40 minutes," he explained, which still left several vans to clear of ice.
Temperatures Wednesday are expected to stay below freezing, with the falling ice changing to snow.
