King was just 3-for-17 before hitting his big shot to give A&M a 51-49 lead. Iowa State had a chance to tie it again when Tyray Pearson went to the line for two free throws with 4.8 seconds remaining, but he made only the second.
Iowa State's Jared Homan then was called for a foul trying to steal the ball. Fans booed, Iowa State coach Larry Eustachy stomped on the sideline and a plastic water bottle was thrown onto the court.
