Memorial services for Doris Marie Parker, 64, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lawrence Christian Center. She was cremated.

Mrs. Parker died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at her home.

She was born Feb. 11, 1937, in Lawrence, the daughter of Henry and Lorene (Hibner) Silvers.

Mrs. Parker moved to Topeka, where she lived until returning to Lawrence in 1968. She moved back to Topeka in 1982, then returned to Lawrence in 1983. She was a child care provider in her Lawrence home for many years. She owned Feather Dusters cleaning service, Lawrence, for many years. She wrote poetry that was published nationally.

She was a member of Lawrence Christian Center.

She married Donald R. Parker on Feb. 6, 1982, at Evangel Temple Church, Topeka. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Robert Hurley Jr., Carl Ward III and Kirk Kirkland, all of Lawrence; two daughters, Lisa Herschell, Perry, and Sheila Ward, Lawrence; her mother, Lorene Rothwell, Lecompton; a brother, Carl Silvers, Lone Star; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Douglas County or to Lawrence Christian Center, sent in care of Runsey-Yost Funeral Home.
