Our children are very unhappy that this is being considered. They would register for eight or nine hours if that were allowed. According to our children, there are many students, as well as instructors, who view this consideration as a negative impact. This is ridiculous.
The school district may save $200,000, but our community will lose more than that in failed opportunities for our children and their futures. Zero hour is the only time many students have to pursue their real passions in learning. Let me assure you that zero hour is taken seriously by students and teachers alike. The students attend school that early because they want to be there. This is NOT goof-off time.
Do we need a 1/4-cent sales tax to support our children? It is time to march on Topeka; we would be happy to march with the Board of Education.
