Baldwin Graveside services for John Porter Bell Jr., 84, Wellsville, will be at 3 p.m. today at Oakwood Cemetery, Baldwin.

Mr. Bell died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 3, 1917, on the family homestead east of Baldwin, the son of John Porter and Minnie (Wilson) Bell. He attended Prospect Grade School, rural Baldwin, and later Baldwin High School.

Mr. Bell farmed his entire life and also worked at Hercules Powder Company, DeSoto, for about six months in the early 1940s.

He was a member of Ives Chapel United Methodist Church, Baldwin. He was also a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 2700, Ottawa.

He married Claudine Greenlee on Oct. 10, 1942. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Ann Bell, Newport, Ore.; two sons, Kenneth and Daryl, both of Wellsville; a stepdaughter, Sue Carol Drew, Kansas City, Kan.; a brother, Jack, Baldwin; four grandchildren; and nine stepgrandchildren.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 64, 66006.
