Star Wars Starfighter:

Special Edition

Platform: Microsoft Xbox

Genre: Action

Publisher: Lucas Arts

ESRB Rating: Teen

Nobody has the toys that Star Wars always has been known for, and the aircraft at your command in Starfighter are no exception. From the sleek N-1 Starfighter to the hulking Havoc bomber, you'll get to soar the skies in support of the Rebel Alliance in supreme style.

Your goal is to complete 19 missions that will help knock the Trade Federation off its throne. The aircraft are responsive without being too loose, allowing you the appropriate amount of control. Camera work keeps you centered on your targets without being too restrictive to see your surroundings, and bonus missions give a young fighter pilot a little something extra to work for.

Slick graphics and a solid story combine to make this an all-around quality replica of one of the greatest movie series ever.

Burnout

Platform: PlayStation 2

Genre: Racing

Publisher: Acclaim

ESRB rating: Everyone

Those burnt out on the collection of mediocre racing games might want to take Burnout for a quick drive.

It features the high-end graphics now standard with PlayStation 2 racers but sets itself apart from the pack with its tight controls, hyperfast pace and intelligent opponents that make coming in first a true challenge.

Clearly the winning strategy is to avoid crashes, but timid drivers will go nowhere. Burnout rewards the driver who takes risks, granting boost points for close calls and tricky moves.

Given the tenacity of your computer opponents, you'll need every advantage you can get.

Racing game fanatics will appreciate the challenge and pace of Burnout, but all others should rent before buying.
