Overbrook She was born Oct. 11, 1914, in Lawrence, the daughter of Willis and Gertrude (Smith) Miller. She grew up in the Lone Star community southwest of Lawrence and attended the Lone Star Grade School.
She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1922, and worked as a bookkeeper and custodian at the Topeka State Hospital for 27 years.
She was a member of the Otterbein Methodist Church in Topeka.
She married Jack Byrd in 1946. He died in October 1962. She married Jodia Cole on Aug. 12, 1965. He died June 12, 2001.
Survivors include a son, Larry Byrd, Topeka; a stepson, Alvin Cole, Houston; four stepdaughters, Lois Dodd, Ottawa, Dolores Morgan, Belleville, Tex., Rosemary Turner, Aransas Pass, Tex., and Nancy Kline, Olathe; a brother, Pharon Miller, Topeka; 16 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Greenwood-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home in Overbrook, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
