Commuter Q & A
Why does the turnoff area, opposite the spillway on the Clinton Lake Dam, have a traffic barricade, and when will it be open again?
The barricades are part of increased security measures at the lake, a federally managed facility, since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, said Lew Ruona, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operations manager at Clinton Lake. The barricades are intended to keep vehicles from parking on the turnoff area near the control tower on the dam. They're also supposed to deter people from walking out on the overlook area. Ruona said the barricades would be in place indefinitely.
