Memorial services for John Skie, 86, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Skie died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. He lived most of his life in Lawrence after moving here 70 years ago from Parsons.
He was born Aug. 30, 1915, in Parsons, the son of John and Mary Helen (Esch) Skie.
He was a graduate of Liberty Memorial High School and Kansas University, where he earned a chemistry degree.
Mr. Skie was a longtime Lawrence businessman and investor. He was the former owner of the local Dr. Pepper Bottling Co. and The Boat Dock. Most recently, he developed Chipperfield condominiums in southwest Lawrence.
He was a former member of both the Luncheon and Breakfast Rotary clubs in Lawrence and the Norwegian Heritage Society. He also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
He married Ellen Dee Pritchett on Oct. 9, 1948, in Madisonville, Ky. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include three daughters, Debbie Scrivner, Leawood, Sue Skie, Redwood Valley, Calif., and Shelley Skie Horowitz, Lawrence; and two grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials in his name to Rotary International or the Kansas University Endowment Association, sent in care of the mortuary.
