The week: Bstunned No. 1-ranked Josh Carroll of Olathe North, 8-7, in the 215-pound semifinals of the Blue Valley Northwest Invitational. Carroll, a two-time state champion, was 14-0 and had won 75 consecutive matches.
B who capitalized on four penalty points against Carroll, wound up in second place at the tourney and has a 20-4 record.
Comment: "That was a huge win," FSHS coach Darrell Andrew said. "That was a goal of his ever since he started wrestling at Free State. He had always been his matches before (with Carroll) but he had never found a way to beat him. Ian put himself in a position to win and pushed the tempo of the match. He's having a great season in a tough weight class."
