Groups to meet at St. John's
Healing Closure will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the parish hall at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1234 Ky. Use the north church entrance and go downstairs.
The adult education class, which meets at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, will learn more about living wills. The class meets in the parish hall.
Events slated at Zen Center
A four-week "Foundations of Zen" class will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Kansas Zen Center, 1423 N.Y. It also will meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 5, 12 and 19.
The center's annual meeting will be at 7 p.m. Saturday. A potluck dinner will begin at 6 p.m.

A conference featuring author Jerry Bridges will be Feb. 8-9 at Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 3312 Calvin Drive. The conference is sponsored by Kansas University Navigators.

Jewish center plans Shabbaton
The Lawrence Jewish Community Center, 917 Highland Drive, plans its second annual Shabbaton Feb. 1-2. Local talent will be showcased.
Rabbi Judith Beiner will lead services at 7:45 p.m. Feb. 1. Events will begin at 9 a.m. Feb. 2 with bagels and a torah study session with Beiner. Shabbat Services will begin at 9:45 a.m., followed by a luncheon. The afternoon will include study sessions.
