Burglaries and thefts reported
Windows were broken out on four cars parked on the lot at Crown Chevrolet-Oldsmobile, 3400 Iowa. A Lawrence Police officer driving through the lot about midnight Wednesday discovered the vandalism. Total damage was listed at $5,000.
A rear window was damaged and DVD player was removed from a 1997 Nissan Isuzu parked in the 2900 block of Crestline Drive. A 24-year-old Lawrence man reported the damage Thursday. Total losses and damages were listed at $3,050.
A 41-year-old Lawrence man reported that someone took a Sunco coil nailer, Campbell Hausfeld stick frame nailer and three miscellaneous items from his residence in the 900 block of New Jersey Street. The items, valued at $1,150, were removed between 3 p.m. Tuesday and 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary to a storage shed and barn on property in the 2100 section of North 1 Road, rural Wellsville. Someone entered an unlocked barn and removed a citizen's band radio from a truck. A storage shed also was entered and a lawn tractor and tiller were taken. Total losses were listed at $1,050.
The Kansas University Public Safety Office is investigating the removal of $750 from a cash register at the Kansas Union Bookstore at KU. The money was taken sometime during the day Jan. 17, a report said.
