HINU loses player

Freshman defensive end Ricky Bigger, the only Haskell Indian Nations University football player who made first team All-CSFL last fall, has left school and plans to transfer. Bigger, a 6-foot-3, 225-pounder from Sperry, Okla., is reportedly leaning toward Bemidji, Minn., State.

Ottawa men win

Ottawa Tony Porter scored a game-high 29 points as Ottawa rolled over Bethany, 77-61, in college men's basketball on Thursday. Chris McNaughton and Curtis Brown each scored 10 points for OU, which hit 55.3 percent of its field goals, including 65.2 percent in the first half.

Ottawa women fall

Ottawa Jodi Strathman led four players in double figures with 16 points as Bethany hammered Ottawa, 78-44, in college women's basketball on Thursday. Angela Harger led OU with eight points. Lindsay Roskens had 15 points, Jill Nech 14 and Brynne Craig 10 for Bethany.
