Firefighters were working late Friday afternoon to extinguish a house fire in Eudora, a few blocks from the city's downtown.
Firefighters received a call shortly after 4 p.m. Friday that heavy smoke was coming out of a second floor window of a 150-year-old home at 601 Elm St. Firefighters had the blaze under control about 6 p.m.
Firefighters from Eudora and Wakarusa township fire departments were called in to battle the blaze.
All the residents were accounted for who lived in the house, which was split into two apartments. Firefighters were able to rescue a dog that was trapped inside.
