— With two starters in early foul trouble, No. 3 Maryland turned to an unlikely shooter and a trio of reserves to continue its dominance over Wake Forest.

Steve Blake, who averages just five shots a game, scored 19 points Wednesday night and the bench contributed 27 points to lead Maryland to an 85-63 victory over No. 21 Wake Forest, the Terrapins' sixth straight win over the Demon Deacons.

"Blake usually isn't the guy who gets that many points," Maryland coach Gary Williams said. "This is probably his best all-around game since he's been at Maryland."

Blake, a junior, finished 7-for-11 from the field and made three three-pointers to match teammate Juan Dixon, who also scored 19 points.

Blake wasn't the only surprise for Maryland (15-3, 5-1 ACC). The Terrapins' reserves filled in when Byron Mouton struggled to score and Lonny Baxter and Chris Wilcox got into foul trouble.

Tahj Holden led the reserves with 11 points, while Drew Nicholas finished with 10 and Ryan Randle had six.

Darius Songaila had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Deacons (13-6, 3-3), who have lost three straight league games.

No. 9 Illinois 80, Wisconsin 48

Champaign, Ill. Cory Bradford had 16 points and Illinois was 10-of-20 on three-pointers in a victory over Wisconsin. Illinois (15-4, 4-2 Big Ten) extended its home-winning streak to 28 games. Freddie Owens and Devin Harris each had 13 points for Wisconsin (11-9, 4-3).

Arizona State 88,

No. 10 Arizona 72

Tempe, Ariz. Chad Prewitt scored 22 points and Curtis Millage added 19 as Arizona State (11-7, 4-5 Pac-10) ended a five-year drought against Arizona.

No. 15 Georgia 81, Arkansas 67

Athens, Ga. Jarvis Hayes had 21 points and Georgia (16-3, 5-1 SEC). Jannero Pargo had 18 points for the Razorbacks (10-8, 2-4).

No. 25 Connecticut 75, St. John's 70
