To the editor:

John Balzar should read what I just read before entering my letter to the editor the LJ-World web site states that letters "should avoid name-calling and libelous language." That's about all he did in his article, "Enron has broader implications."

I'm already tired of the John Balzars of the world blaming Bush for things that were going on for years and years under Clinton et al. And now he blames the people who voted for Bush, as well as the "many millions who were suckered into this vision of a cut-throat America where values mean nothing at all when measured against the bottom line." (I'd say the sewer water referenced in the article refers to Balzar's writing)

Yes, Enron is a mess but not many facts are on the table to tell this story yet so don't. I worked in the white collar world for 20 years, and I have seen plenty of greed and graft, but what I mostly experienced (key word, John) was aggressive competition that delivered services and goods to customers. And, in doing so, the companies made a profit the ones that did it the best made bigger profits.

I'm glad I don't live in John Balzar's world. Unfortunately, my local paper sees his ravings as fit to publish.

Dan Schriner,

Lawrence
