Austin, Texas Bernard King scored 30 points to lead Texas A&M to an 80-74 victory over No. 24 Texas on Wednesday night, the Aggies first win in Austin since 1987.
The loss also snapped Texas' 28-game winning streak over in-state opponents. The last time the Longhorns (13-5, 4-1 Big 12) lost to an in-state opponent was at Houston in the opening game of the 1998-99 season.
Texas A&M (8-11, 2-3), which had lost 16 straight games, overcame 25 turnovers.
Texas led 36-32 at halftime, but the Aggies hit their first seven shots in an 18-3 run to start the second half that gave them a 50-39 lead.
Fredie Williams of Texas made two free throws to make it 67-65 with three minutes left, but stellar free throw shooting down the stretch let the Aggies keep the lead. Texas A&M was 20-of-23 from the free throw line in the second half.
James Thomas led Texas with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Texas, which came into the game as the Big 12 leader in three-point percentage (39.8), was 2-of-21 from behind the line against the Aggies.

Stillwater, Okla. Ivan McFarlin set career-highs with 20 points and 17 rebounds, helping Oklahoma State end a two-game losing streak.
