Baldwin Services for Edith Catherine Elston, 94, Baldwin, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, Baldwin. Burial will be in Stoney Point Cemetery, rural Douglas County.

Mrs. Elston died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Dec. 25, 1907, in Leavenworth, the daughter of John and Kate (Durham) Crusha. As a child, she moved to the Lawrence area, where she attended school.

Mrs. Elston worked at Lawrence Memorial Hospital as a nurse's aide for 23 years before retiring in 1982. After her marriage, she moved to the Vinland area, then moved to Baldwin in 1955.

She married Donald Elston on Aug. 3, 1937, in Lawrence. He died March 14, 1993.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna J. Thomas, Baldwin; a son, Arthur Payne, Baldwin; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Two daughters, Shirley Lee and Gladys MacAlexender, and a son, Jack Payne, died earlier.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The family suggests memorials to the Edith Elston Memorial Fund, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 64, Baldwin 66006.
