Services for Dorothy Merle Gibbs, 78, DeSoto, formerly of Lawrence, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth.
Mrs. Gibbs died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at Olathe Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 18, 1923 in Burk Burnett, Tex., the daughter of David and Myrtle (Gwinn) Clayton.
She married Estle Pendley in 1941. He died in World War II. She married Edwin E. Gibbs in 1947. He died Dec. 20, 1997.
Survivors include two daughters, Starlyn Atwell, DeSoto, Mary Payne, Burbank, Calif.; a son, Edwin Gibbs Jr., Fort Scott; a brother, Franklin Clayton, Tex.; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A son, Estle, died in 1980.
The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the Olathe Medical Center I.C.U., sent in care of the mortuary.
