City commissioners will review concerns about the intersection of 15th Street and Engel Road.

Background

Neighborhood residents say the intersection is dangerously busy concerns that were renewed by nearby St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center's decision to expand. Commissioners will look at a 1992 engineering report that proposed several solutions to problems at the intersection.

Consent agenda

Review and approve minutes of various boards and commissions: city commission meeting of Jan. 15; Neighborhood Resources Advisory Committee meeting of Dec. 13; Housing Trust Fund Board meetings of Dec. 12 and Dec. 19; Lawrence Arts Commission meetings of Oct. 10, Oct. 14 and Nov. 1.

Approve all claims.

Award bids for the comprehensive rehabilitation projects at 1826 N.H. and 1402 E. 18th Terrace to the low bidder, Master Plan Management, for $22,360 and $15,910, respectively.

Reject bids for the comprehensive rehabilitation projects at 817 Ala. and 812 Ind. as the bid amount exceeds the program limit of $25,000.

Set bid date of Feb. 19 for Westwood Hills/Baldwin Creek No. 2, sanitary sewer improvements.

Adopt on first reading the following ordinances:

Rezoning approximately 12.085 acres from agricultural to single-family residential district. The property is generally located west of Branchwood Drive, north of Stoneridge Drive.

Rezoning approximately .399 acre from general industrial district to limited commercial district. The property is located at 1350 N. Third St.

Adopt on second reading an ordinance amending the Rental Registration Ordinance.

Adopt resolution providing city approval of the request of Farnam Group Resources Inc. to receive tax credits from the Kansas Department of Commerce. The proposed project is on the east side of Crossgate between 27th Street and Clinton Parkway.

Approve site plan for Rock Chalk Carwash located at the corner of East 23rd Street and Ponderosa Drive.

Approve a revision to the site plan portion of a Use Permitted Upon Review for the co-location of communication equipment on a tower, including an 11-by-30-foot equipment building at the Wakarusa Water Treatment Facility.

Authorize the city manager to execute a change order to Penny's Concrete Co. Inc. for $55,955 for concrete materials on the Bowersock Dam improvements.

Receive request from Sauer Danfoss for Phase III tax exemption; refer to staff for implementation report.

Authorize staff to publish the necessary public notice for the proposed exchange of future park property (approximately .037 acre) between Ess Corp Development and the city near the future intersection of Overland Drive and Congressional Drive.

Authorize the mayor to sign subordination agreements for the following: Harold Barnes, 447 Elm St.; Angela Nascimento, 817 Ala.; Maxine Younes, 1320 E. 18th St. Terrace.
