Knicks add Weatherspoon, shelve injured Robinson
New York Forward Clarence Weatherspoon was activated by the New York Knicks on Saturday after missing 25 games because of a foot injury.
The Knicks put swingman Larry Robinson on the injured list for the third time this season because of tendinitis in his right knee. He came off the list Jan. 12.
Weatherspoon partially tore a tendon in his right foot during a game against Golden State on Nov. 20. He went on the injury list four days later.
In 12 games this season, Weatherspoon averaged 10.7 points and 8.1 rebounds.
Brandon activated by Timberwolves
Minneapolis Timberwolves guard Terrell Brandon was activated Saturday after missing nearly a month because of a knee injury. The Timberwolves also placed guard Will Avery on the injured list because of tendinitis in his right knee. Brandon underwent arthroscopic surgery Dec. 20.
Hannum dies at 78
San Diego Alex Hannum, the first coach to win championships in both the ABA and NBA, has died. He was 78. Hannum coached for 16 seasons and won NBA titles with St. Louis and Philadelphia and an ABA championship with Oakland.
